VCO Systems (http://vcosystems.com), the leader in flexible designed light solutions, redesigned the Picking Process Flows for Multi’s (orders with more than 1 unit) for Rue La La. Bill Carson, VP of Technology for Rue La La and Vikrant Angia, CEO VCO Systems will hold a press conference at the VCO Systems’ booth B4474 at MODEX on Tuesday, April 10 at 11:30am.
The project was started in November 2017 and initially only 20% of the total Outbound Multis Orders were processed through the Putwalls. This was to provide Operations with time to adapt to the new Process Flows and Light Directed Putwall Solutions from VCO Systems. The Mobile Platform provided by VCO Systems facilitated quick and easy User Onboarding and the integration of Productivity Information to Rue La La’s dashboard environment provided real time feedback to the Users regarding processing times and other related KPIs.
The big jump in picking productivity gains combined with the ease of order sortation using VCO Systems’ Light Solutions provided the impetus for the Project and outweighed the need for expensive MHE upgrades or WMS solution upgrades. It also laid the foundation for further process improvements with the ability of VCO System’s Software to integrate with Packaging Solutions and Bots for moving inventory from Batch Picks to the Putwalls (as an alternate to using Conveyors).
At the turn of the year in 2018, based on the efficiencies gained in Batch Picking and Light Directed Putwall Sortation and Operations’ proven ability to efficiently manage the new process flow, 60%-70% of the Outbound Multis Orders is now processed through the Putwalls.
