Michelle Watson Studios announced today that they will be providing FREE Summer Film Camps and Acting Classes in Atlanta and New York City. The company will premiere the on-going acting and voice over classes for kids ages 4-16 at The Space Atlanta in Smyrna, GA while the New York City classes will be held at Shetler Studios.
The first acting session will start May 5th at 1pm in Atlanta. Complimentary tickets for the first session will be available online at www.michellewatsonstudios.com beginning April 26, 2018.
In addition to teaching acting classes, the company will provide select foster children with FREE summer acting camp opportunities. Herself a product of the foster care system, Michelle is especially excited to work with foster children. “Many children in the system are not able to participate in extracurricular activities due to financial hardships and our program gives them inspiration and the opportunity to look beyond their current situations and to blossom into their true selves,” says Ms. Watson.
The Kids Film Camp (the summer division of Michelle Watson Studios) was created in 2013 and specializes in acting, voice over, film-making and STEM. The goal of this unique camp to provide young people with an outlet to express themselves through film and media. The Kids Film Camp in 2017 was a great success and received recognition in Atlanta Parent Magazine, Channel 2 News and more.
Michelle Watson is an Emmy Award winner and a current employee of the University of Georgia. She is a former member of the professional television training program at DCTV (Downtown Community Television) in New York City. After completing the two-year video production program at DCTV, Michelle Watson later became a Success Coach for the Middle School department of Groundwork Inc., a non-profit for youth organization in New York City. During that time, she taught students how to produce documentaries to express the oppression they experience in their daily lives.
Michelle was recently commissioned to Atlanta where she works with celebrities in the city’s fast-growing music/film industry including recording artists such as Young Jeezy (Atlantic Records), Jovanie (Atlanta Records), Bangledash (Grammy Award Winner), and Singer and Fashion designer Tammy Rivera.
