Addressing the industry skills gap

Research in the Uptime Institute Annual Data Center Survey 2021 estimates staff requirements will grow globally to nearly 2.3 million in 2025. Further, 32% of respondents reported difficulty in retaining staff, with 47% having difficulty finding qualified candidates for open jobs. Attracting and retaining talent within the industry, which is the heart of the digital economy, is now reaching a critical mass.

Schneider Electric crowns top A/NZ partners

Schneider Electric has awarded the efforts of its top-performing partners in Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) region at its APC by Schneider Electric Channel Awards 2021/22.

The awards acknowledge excellence in sales, distribution, leadership, innovation and value creation in the technology and data centre sector. 

Joe Craparotta, vice president of IT business and strategic segments at Schneider Electric, said the awards also recognise and celebrate the commitment of all its partnerships.

“The extraordinary level of innovation, dedication, and commitment to excellence from Schneider’s channel partners has been nothing short of extraordinary in 2021 and 2022,” he said.

New to Schneider’s award line-up this year, which were determined by a vote open to the channel community, were Distributor – Best in Marketing Campaigns of the Year 2022, Distributor Sales Champion of the Year 2022 and Distributor Technical Champion of the Year 2022.

Of these, Ingram Micro’s camp took out two  of the awards, scoring the Best in Marketing Campaigns and Sales Champion of the Year, with the latter going to Johmel Bonete. Meanwhile, Distributor Technical Champion was won by Dicker Data’s Voldis Kains.

In late June, Astrid Groves, Schneider Electric’s general manager for channels, alliances and operations for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, told ARN its old channel program needed to evolve to its newly released iteration, the mySchneider IT Partner Program, as the older program was established 40 years ago. 

“It was not built for the current environment that we have today or the partner base that we have today and the partner base we want to have in the future as well,” she said at the time.

Schneider Electric makes steady progress toward 2025 sustainability targets

Rueil-Malmaison, France - July 28, 2022 - Schneider Electric, the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, announced today the results of its sustainable impact program for the second quarter of 2022.

Schneider’s Sustainability Impact (SSI) scored 4.17 out of ten, relative to its 4.70 year-end target. The SSI dashboard measures Schneider’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance. It details the progress made on each of the company’s global and local sustainability goals relative to long-term commitments on climate, resources, trust, equal opportunities, generations, and local communities.

The publication of Schneider’s latest SSI scores coincides with Earth Overshoot Day, the date at which more of the Earth’s resources have been consumed than can be replenished. As Earth Overshoot Day in 2022 has occurred one day earlier than last year, it serves as a stark reminder of the need to urgently address humanity’s adverse impact on the planet.

Second quarter 2022 sustainability highlights:

  • Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxureTM solutions helped customers and suppliers make significant decarbonization progress and reduce their CO2 emissions by 381 million tonnes since 2018. In June, Schneider Electric and Hitachi Energy agreed to collaborate on green electricity solutions for renewables, data centers, mining and other sectors of industry.
  • Schneider Electric just expanded its biodiversity pledge to use only deforestation-free wood across its supply chain and operations by 2030.
  • Schneider Electric provided +1.1 million people with access to green electricity in Q2 2022, bringing it to +6.4 million since January 2021.
  • In 2022, 82% of Schneider employees feel confident to report an unethical conduct. A good progress since last year (+1pt) in its commitment to provide a trusted environment and Speak Up culture.
  • Schneider Electric launched its Sustainability School to educate employees on climate and social issues and encourage them to take action and deliver impact in every aspect of their lives.
  • Schneider Electric’s teams in countries and regions continue to play a specific role in ensuring the maximum impact of their locally-led sustainability initiatives, including projects in France, USA, China and India.

Schneider Electric unveils SE Retail Pavilion

Schneider Electric, which is into digital transformation of energy management and automation, has announced the introduction of Schneider Electric (SE) Retail Pavilion in India, to expand its base in the market. 

Through this concept, the company said it will enrol, scale, and upskill retailers and help them in their journey of digital transformation. 

The company has enrolled more than 500 retail stores as SE Retail Pavilions for its B2C business, and aims to expand to over 2,000 SE retail pavilions across India by end of 2023.
