Los Angeles, CA - April 3, 2018 - Set your evil twin free today on Amazon Prime.
Since TriCoast Entertainment’s horror division, DarkCoast, released Cody Calahan’s (‘Antisocial’) Canadian female, psychological thriller, ‘LET HER OUT’ to U.S. audiences in October 2017, due to high demand and the overwhelming amount of astounding reviews, TriCoast Entertainment is excited to announce to horror-lovers and film enthusiasts worldwide – ‘LET HER OUT’ is now streaming on Amazon Prime, and will be released on DVD April 15th.
In collaboration with Breakthrough Entertainment and Black Fawn Films (‘The Drownsman’, ‘Bite’, ‘Antisocial’), who began the revival of Canadian genre “canuxploitation” with DarkCoast on John Ainsle’s suspenseful, horror-thriller, ‘The Sublet’, continues the new wave with ‘LET HER OUT’, which has captured the attention of U.S. horror-lovers from east to west with Calahan’s unique film techniques, blood-bath violence, and plays on psychological emotions to create a must-see horror flick.
“Part body horror, part supernatural, part “possession” story, “Let Her Out provides plenty of cringe-worthy story and effects that will delight horror fans and gruesome listeners. LeVierge is spectacular in the lead and Calahan steers the cast and crew through a promising tale of thrilling terror,” raved Gruesome Magazine’s Jeff Mohr.
Emotional and engaging, ‘LET HER OUT’ combines the genres of horror and psychological thriller to produce a high-concept fright film that will leave viewers with recurring nightmares, yet utterly captivated by lead, Alanna LeVierge’s emotional investment in the frantic and horrifying life of ‘Helen’, who struggles with the difference between reality and sanity.
‘LET HER OUT’ follows the mental and psychological state of Helen (Alanna LeVierge), a young Toronto bike courier, who wakes up in the hospital after a traumatic accident. But, soon after, Helen begins to suffer from bizarre experiences including episodic blackouts, night terrors and psychotic hallucinations. “She unconsciously begins drawing garish pictures emblazoned with nefarious directives (“Kill Him”); the painting gifted to her earlier moves to around her apartment seemingly of its own accord; she wakes in a haze up in her room, her body battered and bloody; and she sees fleeting visions of a female figure,” remarked Joshua Speiser from Film Threat last month.
Could Helen be a danger to herself?
When her doctors send her for a MRI, they discover that a benign tumor is the cause of her terrifying visions. But, as her tumor grows stronger and her hallucinations and blackouts worsen, she quickly uncovers a terrifying truth – she sees what is “revealed to be a wild eyed doppleganger” (Speiser) – her “vanishing twin”. Shedding light on the real-life medical condition commonly known as “Vanishing Twin Syndrome”, or when one twin is absorbed into the other while in utero, was caused by her own prostitute-mother’s gruesome abortion attempt with a pair of scissors.
“The car accident Helen suffered in the film’s first act somehow “activated” this long dormant twin who, according to the physician, is now growing at a rapid rate and is responsible for Helen’s loss of memory and erratic behavior. Suffice to say that Helen’s twin, after being cooped up in Helen’s bean for 23 years, is pissed and wants out,” noted Speiser.
Her twin sister’s consciousness has re-emerged, Helen’s psychological and emotional states worsens as her evil twin takes control of their shared body; Helen’s two personas. Jeff Maher’s striking cinematography captures shaky and gritty images to slowly show Helen’s fear, paranoia, and inability to tell the difference between reality and sanity, as she is stuck inside a nightmare she cannot awake from.
As her twin takes over, is it Helen who becomes the monster?
The film “gives the director and cinematographer the opportunity to deliver some inventive and well rendered set pieces which are moody, effective, and – at moments – quite horrifying in ways that at moments recall Adrian Lyne’s superb nightmarish fever dream Jacob’s Ladder and Cronenberg’s seminal body horror flicks like Scanners,” observed Speiser. Similar to body horror-flicks by Cronenberg, Calahan’s ‘LET HER OUT’ “takes on this primal fear and twists it in a new and inventive way to create an especially unsettling effective horror spectacle.”
‘LET HER OUT’ enters a world of ultimate horror and thrilling terror, allowing for new, and even old generation horror-lovers to experience fright unlike any in the film industry today.
“Let Her Out is a good night at the movies with scares aplenty and a cinematic style that pay off in spades,” concluded Speiser.
‘LET HER OUT’ features Alanna LeVierge as the terrorized lead of Helen, with support from Nina Kiri (‘The Haunted House of Kirby Road’, ‘Geek Charming’) and Adam Christie (‘Antisocial’). Watch the trailer here: https://vimeo.com/223839487 and be the first to watch it on Amazon Prime today.
