Greensboro, NORTH CAROLINA, AUG 25, 2014 – It happens more times than many individuals care to admit. Behavior that occurs among school aged children that is received but unwanted. It is persistent and aggressive, involving a real or perceived power imbalance. This behavior is called bullying. Often times victims of this behavior choose to ignore it, or endure in silence further causing emotional suffering. Sharing his unique insight and vision, Micky Squires, who has over 15 years of experience working with at-risk youth and their families, has launched a KICKSTARTER campaign to write and produce a fun interactive CGI animated semi-musical intended for the big screen teaching awareness.
The mission of “CATSVILLE HIGH THE MOVIE” is to promote positive social interaction and peer selection among youth as well as create a platform that not only speaks to our youth but uplifts, empowers, and educates them while increasing awareness of alternative solutions for dealing with peer pressure and issues of re-occurring adversity.
This story will not only resonate with youth but with adults and music lovers of all ages as well. The story is based on every day real life events that adults and teens go through. Squires teamed up with Jackson State University mass communication graduate Sharon McGee Barnes to promote awareness around bullying and also has enlist assistance from Out of Our Minds Animation Studio, Winston-Salem, NC.
CGI animation can be very expensive; there are numerous stages and costs involved with doing a project of this type, therefore Squires has decided to start small and create a teaser trailer for the film. From there, a new Kickstarter campaign will be launched with the intent to use this trailer to secure funds for the film itself. Now they are seeking angel investors to help them get to the next step along the way.
