Destination Imagination offers students space to create, invent

Starting this year, Dehesa students will have the opportunity to put their creativity to the test with Destination Imagination, a new enrichment class offered during the school day.

The D.I. program is fun, hands-on system of learning that integrates STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education with the arts and social entrepreneurship. Through a variety of project-based learning programs, students are able to apply their creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking skills to solve real-world problems.

This student-centered program provides learners with the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in school, their careers and beyond.

Through the ID program, students can bring their ideas to life while acquiring invaluable skills: problem solving, teamwork, project management, perseverance, idea generation, self-confidence, and respect.

Over the past 30 years, DI has reached over 2 million participants and received support from 38,000 volunteers from across the globe. Approximately 150,000 students participate in the DI program each year. Some of its partners include NASA, 3M, Disney, Motorola Solutions Foundation, Oracle Academy, Mayo Clinic, National Geographic, and many other organizations.

During the next few upcoming years, Dehesa hopes to expand the ID program into a competitive team that is able to engage in any of the seven academic challenges in STEAM education: Technical, Scientific, Fine Arts, Improvisational, Engineering, Service Learning and Early Learning.
