CVESD classrooms designed to promote collaboration, student engagement

Chula Vista Elementary School District students can expect to see exciting new changes in their classrooms.

To increase student engagement and nurture a genuine love for learning, the district has added bouncy chairs, round tables with writable surfaces, and many more unique features in select classrooms.

Classroom layout can have a significant effect on children’s behavior and academic success. That is why CVESD teachers are trained to evaluate each student’s needs and provide appropriate accommodations, including those which can be met by simple design changes.

The new round tables provide students with a fun surface to record their thoughts and ideas, while bouncy chairs provide a sense of comfort and support to students who learn better when they are encouraged to move or stretch.

Within every CVESD classroom, desks are strategically arranged to maximize mobility, collaboration, access to learning tools, and overall view of the classroom, such as the board and other students.
