Last May, the district celebrated the grand opening of IDEA Center High School’s new Student Support Services and Classroom Building.
The modernized facility includes state-of-the-art technology, a new counseling and career center, a new nurse’s office, staff lounge, a more spacious administrative wing, a large center courtyard, and a multipurpose room for staff development and school events.
The single-level, four-wing facility also includes numerous sustainable features, including water-efficient fixtures; energy-efficient lighting and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning; low-emission glass, which helps maximize natural light and block unhealthy rays; carpet panels made from recycled material that can easily be replaced when damaged; and a hydration station.
The $3.7 million modernization project took five months to complete and was funded through an insurance reimbursement and Proposition U funds.
