The South Bay Union School District boasts a high quality preschool facility to support the importance of early education, VIP Village. The Preschool also has satellite sites at three of the District’s school sites.
Studies show that children who participate in high quality preschool are better off than their counterparts in many ways, including improved rates of high school graduation, years of education, adult employment, higher life-long earning potential, and higher outcomes in physical and social-emotional health.
VIP Village has received a “Highest Quality” ranking from the San Diego Quality Preschool Initiative (QPI), QPI reviews and rates early education centers based on several elements including child observation, developmental and health screenings, qualified teachers, effective teacher-child interactions, safe and engaging program environment, and many others. Points are earned on a scale of 1-5 in each element, and a site’s total score determines their tier rating, which is also on a scale of 1-5. While participation at any level demonstrates a program’s commitment to quality, programs earning tier ratings of 4 or 5 have implemented many specific practices to ensure a high quality program for children. VIP Village Preschool has a 5 rating.
First 5 Live Well San Diego has also recognized VIP Village as a model program in its commitment to addressing the problem of childhood obesity. The Preschool has worked with South Bay’s Child Nutrition Department to make systematic changes to improve child nutrition and a local fitness specialist visits the campus to teach exercise techniques and healthy eating options for young children.
In addition to providing outstanding early education, VIP Village also hosts several family events each year. Celebrations such as Snow Day, the Preschool Olympics, Art Shows, and Family Reading Night give families the opportunity to visit the campus and enjoy Preschool!
