From Trucker to Stage and Screen - Dwayne Dexters, a Rising Young Actor!

Dwayne Dexters

Los Angeles, CA - 28 Feb, 2017 - Can Hollywood dreams come really come true? Since (Gerald Collins) now acting under the name Dwayne Dexters, (the name has a special meaning to him) was a little boy he was fascinated with the entertainment industry, television, film, and stage plays. He knew one day performing in the arts is the career he wanted to pursue.

He began acting while in high school in the small town of Quitman, Mississippi.  While his friends spent time playing sports, Dexters was partaking in acting classes to improve his craft and performing in plays.  His parents were hard working, his father a trucker and a devoted stay at home mom whom both supported his dreams. In his freshman year of high school, he brought together the entire black history program from script to the stage performance.

After high school, Dexters traveled to Jackson, Mississippi to work on the film, “The Help”.  This was his first real taste of Hollywood and he knew had taken his first steps to his career. He then moved to LA where he took any ‘extra’ jobs he could get to continue to build a resume.  He moved to NYC for four months where he joined a musical act who were fundraising for homeless shelters, successfully raising over $250,000.00.

“This was the greatest time for me not only getting to perform each week to audiences but at the same time helping those less fortunate than me,” stated Dexter.

Dexters then attended Full Sail University which continued to train him in the arts.

His career continued to soar as he worked alongside the talented Alyson Stoner in her music video, which was filmed in Sherman Oaks, California. She helped to inspire Dexters on defining the direction of his career.

He has also been managing music artists in his home state and while he is pursuing his dreams helping them pursue their artistry.

A few samples of Dexters acting experience includes:

• Theatre: "Improvisation" - Performer - NY Lincoln Center
• "Black History" - Producer

• Feature Film: "Get On Up" - Directed by Tate Taylor
• "Tattoo Nightmares" - Guest Appearance on Spike TV

• New Media: "You Only Live Once" - Feature - YOLO Productions

Dwayne Dexters like his father still drives a truck to help make ends meet while he is working on his career, but that allows him the freedom to audition when opportunities arise.  His acting and singing abilities along with his dedication will lead to his ultimate success.

“I’m working each day on my craft and I am confident my dreams will come true,” said Dexters.

Dwayne Dexters is someone to watch in 2017!
