April 2, 2015 - The Rolling Stones have announced dates for a new 15-city North American stadium tour this summer and a reissue of their classic 1971 album, Sticky Fingers.
The ‘Zip Code’ tour, the name of which is a riff on the Andy Warhol-designed Sticky Fingers cover featuring a close up of a man’s jeans-clad crotch, will kick off at Petco Park, San Diego, California on May 24. Touching down in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Dallas, Texas, Orlando, Florida and Nashville, Tennessee, among other stops, the tour will finish up at Le Festival D'Ete de Quebec on July 15. Tickets for the Quebec date will be available from April 11, while tickets for the rest of the dates go on sale on April 13.
The last time the Stones played to fans in America’s stadiums was almost 10 years ago. For their ‘50 and Counting’ tour in 2012/2013, the relentlessly rocking foursome took to the big arena stages instead.
In a statement issued by Mick Jagger, the 71-year old singer said, “We are excited to be back in North America playing stadiums this summer. We are looking forward to being back onstage and playing your favorite songs.”
Coinciding with the concert dates, the rock band will be re-releasing a deluxe version of the much-loved Sticky Fingers album, along with previously unreleased tracks, including a live performance of ‘Honky Tonk Woman’ and ‘Midnight Rambler’ from London’s Roundhouse in 1971. The reissue, which will come in a variety of formats from standard to stylish box set, will also include a rendition of ‘Brown Sugar’ featuring Eric Clapton and an acoustic version of buskers’ favorite, ‘Wild Horses’.
A super-deluxe variant will include additional recordings of the band’s 1971 concert in Leeds, UK, as well as a 120-page book with revised sleeve notes, previously unpublished band photos, a print and postcard set and a cover with an actual working zipper.
