Jason Rodie of Gilbert is leading by example. He is currently conditioning himself physically, in high hopes of making it to the 2016 Paralympics in Brazil. His goal is to have a record of more than 6 meters in the long jump event. He got scouted last 2013 for the Paralympics because of a triathlon match. Rodie then began to do training for world class sporting events. Rodie needs to participate in 14 other competitions to gain the much needed experience for the Paralympics.
Rodie also aims to complete 35 hours of rigorous physical training with chiropractic treatments, balancing, mobility and therapy. His Saturdays are spent on athletic training with Arizona Disabled Sports. Rodie is aware of how hopeless other Cerebral Palsy victims can be He is particularly concerned on the children with cerebral palsy. It was on 2006 when he decided to create the J Rodie Hope Alliance, a nonprofit organization with a goal to help children with cerebral palsy.
Raising more awareness about Cerebral Palsy and giving hope to the cerebral palsy sufferers, especially the children are the main objectives of J Rodie Hope Alliance. Rodie is very concerned on the lack of resources for those who have cerebral palsy. The non profit organization also aims to create an establishment that will offer medical solutions and additional resources to those with cerebral palsy.
"I am doing the Paralympics to help get my name out there and help tell people that anything is possible if you put your mind into reaching your goal. I have never trained for the Paralympics and never done the long jump.” this was Rodie's response when he was asked why he wants to participate in the Paralympics.
The director for Arizona Disabled Sports, Lane Gram said that Rodie's chances of getting on the team are pretty good.
At present, Rodie has a part-time job to support himself. Some sponsored him for the free services and his other needs to train and eventually, to compete for the Paralympics. He is hoping to raise more funds through a crowd-funding campaign.
Rodie is looking for individuals and businesses whose goals are similar to his He is also hoping to have more public relations and exposure for his non profit organization.
