Randy Jernigan Changes Career Direction, His Battle With the Tabloids, and His Crush on Marie Osmond

The American writer known for his edgy celebrity features in such magazines as Globe and Life and Style has announced he's moving away from the gossip grind to work on more serious creative projects.

New York, NY, USA (September 1, 2014) -- Randy Jernigan's latest book, Stars That Make A Difference, will feature a serious look at four celebrities that the author has admired for their contribution to their respective communities and the world as a whole. Featured in the first book, assuming that all passes final edit, will be Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, television talk show host Ellen Degeneres, entertainer Marie Osmond, and singing sensation Taylor Swift.

"I got so freak'en tired of writing up news pieces of celebrities that were getting into trouble and just doing things to get their names in print. I wanted to turn the tables and put something out there that had some positive value to it. The celebrities I've chosen have all made major contribution to the world and have added value to the lives of the fans that follow them."

According to a recently published interview in The daily Wrap Jernigan had expressed an interest in moving into other creative areas and doing something of a more serious nature with his talents.

"I had discussed this with my agent and he thought this new direction was a great idea. A writer can get stagnant if he doesn't make changes now and then. Plus, I have other creative interests I wanted to explore."

Of course it wasn't long before the tabloid press got wind of Jernigan's new book project and came calling. This last month Jernigan has been embroiled in a very public battle with several online tabloids that have been vicious toward the author and the celebrities featured in the manuscript, causing Jernigan and his legal team to take action.

I'm very proud of my work on this new book and I'm not going to allow rogue journalist to destroy that work, or my good reputation, for that matter. I've gotten to know some of these celebrities on an intimate level and they just don't deserve that kind of treatment by the press. I look at young Dan (Radcliffe) who absolutely loves his fans and is so full of enthusiasm for his craft-all the great things he's done for his fans. His work for The Trevor Project and other charitable things he does without the public's knowledge-it's inspiring.

And Marie (Osmond) has been an inspiration to millions with her Children's Miracle Network and other works she's involved in. And what a special lady! I remember my college days when I used to attend the same singles congregation with Marie. She was actually the only girl at church that would actually speak to me. Like most of the guys at church then, I was so in love with her that it was pathetic. I won't mention the huge poster of Marie I had on my bedroom wall. But that's all water under the bridge. And for those that know me a bit more intimately know that my tastes have changed-drastically."

Besides his Stars That Make A Difference book, Jernigan has recently optioned a story to a Hollywood film studio and will be writing the screenplay this Fall. According to Digital Journal his best selling Losing to Win! Diet cookbook has recently been reissued.
