DK Photonics, one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturer of highly sensitive solutions, including Polarization Maintaining Optical Circulator, and Polarization Beam Combiner/Splitter for telecommunications and other industrial and commercial applications, showcased its products at a Press event recently. Other products on display included Polarization Maintaining Fiber Coupler, In-line Polarizer and Polarization Maintaining Isolator components.
Senior engineers at the plant noted that, because of their high isolation and remarkably low insertion loss, the company’s Polarization Maintaining Optical Circulator is an extremely popular choice for use in sophisticated communication systems as add-drop multiplexers.
These products use the company’s proprietary design and metal bonding micro packaging, and are considered the top of the line in the industry. The exhibitors noted that company’s clients also prefer them for other applications, such as chromatic dispersion compensation devices, bi-directional pumps and EDFA applications.
Highlighting the company’s Polarization Maintaining In-line Polarizer, company representatives stressed that these were uniquely characterized with low IL, high return loss, high extinction ratio and excellent environmental stability and reliability. They are ideal for polarization maintaining fiber amplifiers, fiber lasers, high speed communication system and instrumentation applications.
Company engineers were especially proud of the Polarization Beam Combiner/Splitter, which is a compact high performance light-wave component used to combine 2 orthogonal polarization signals into a single output fiber. Attendees to the event were told that the company’s clients popularly use these components to combine the light of two pump lasers into a single fiber to double the pump power to an Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) or a Raman Amplifier.
In response to a question about what the most popular specifications for these solutions was, engineers noted that the typical Polarization Beam Combiner/Splitter configuration comprises of 2 PM fibers for the input, coupled with a SM fiber for the output. The device may also be utilized as a beam splitter.
The Press event took place at DK Photonics‘s 13,900 square foot manufacturing facility in Shenzhen, China, where a huge variety of optical fiber components, including Polarization Maintaining Optical Circulator, Polarization Beam Combiner/Splitter, Polarization Maintaining Fiber Coupler, In-line Polarizer and Polarization Maintaining Isolator solutions are manufactured. Executives present at the occasion offered a guided tour of the plant to attendees, highlighting the unique features of many of its popular solutions.
Featured in the guided tour were the company’s Polarization Maintaining Isolator solutions, including the Polarization Maintaining Isolator 1310 & 1480 & 1550nm and the Polarization Maintaining Tap Isolator 1310 & 1550nm. Visitors were shown the state of the art manufacturing machines and assembly lines used to produce these products, both of which have recently seen huge spike in global demand.
