Chesapeake Home Health Care, a leading pediatric nursing provider of services for special needs and medically fragile children and nursing-dependent young adults, hosted its first National Breast Cancer Awareness Day on October 16. The women-owned agency’s staff dressed in pink wigs, clothing and ribbons to distribute brochures and other informative literature to members of the local community.
“Our goal is to not only provide health education and resources to our clients, but to the community at large,” said Erica Paul, co-chief executive officer and chief financial officer. “This type of outreach can make a significant difference in ensuring that members of the community are aware and taking the necessary steps to ensure optimal health.”
During the event, Chesapeake Home Health Care’s nurses demonstrated prevention techniques, answered questions and discussed the importance of adopting and maintaining healthy habits, knowing the risk factors and performing self-breast exams and scheduling mammograms.
“We had a tremendous response to our first Breast Cancer Awareness Day event,” said Laseandia Harley, co-chief executive officer and chief operating officer. “We appreciate the receptiveness of the members of the community to the information provided, as well as the support from our neighboring businesses.”
