EDI Launches Revolutionary New Watch

European Diving Instruments ("EDI") – purveyor of unique, mechanical watches, launched the EDI Golden Age today. It includes phenomenal specifications unheard of at the 500 dollar price point, including a double barrel movement with a 3-day power reserve, and 904L steel casing – all put together with classic aesthetics.

Vintage is back in wristwatch fashion, with major brands introducing reissues and homages of models from the 1950s and 60s. The success of the Tudor Black Bay, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Polaris ‘68, and Omega’s Speedmaster and SM300 re-release all reflect a return to more elegant, refined style. Gaudy, oversized watches are being shed for old classics. However, the demand for modern technologies and materials in these watches is ever more present.

The Golden Age from European Diving Instruments embodies these two elements in one sophisticated timepiece. Heavily influenced by the dive watches of the 1950s and 60s, the Golden Age shares even the most intricate details with these vintage classics, while maintaining its own very distinct appearance. At the same time, the watch houses unique technical innovations unseen in any other watch at its price point, including an exceptionally long power reserve.

“The goal was to provide the market with features you would only find in a luxury watch, but at an affordable price… we want to revolutionize the watch market” said EDI CEO, Philip Allan.

Its 904L (as opposed to the typical 316L) steel case and bracelet serve not only to provide impressive corrosion resistance, but also can be polished to a level that other steels cannot. In addition to the bracelet, the watch includes an ocean-capable nato strap, as well as an exclusive denim strap made on shuttle looms; on trend with other selvage denimwear. The understated colours, for which the Golden Age is available, are inspired by the beautiful patina of vintage dive watches. The attention to detail on the Golden Age is so meticulous, that EDI will go as far as to match the gaskets and O-rings to each watch colour.

At around $500 US the watch is an incredible bargain. The number of features in the Golden Age goes above and beyond what any other competitor is offering.
