Marian Hanna’s mission is to produce safe, non-toxic, biodegradable products to ensure that environmental impacts are addressed and minimized every step of the way. She was on a mission to make a change after reading about the Robin Danielson Feminine Hygiene Product Safety Act that keeps being DENIED year after year by congress. This act was named after a woman that died from toxic shock syndrome. Pads and tampons pose health risks to women who use the products and to children of women who use the products during or before pregnancy. This act will inform women of the exact materials that they place inside their body every month.
Marian Hanna’s goal is to use her brand to support underserved communities by contributing a portion of 10% of all sales to philanthropy.
Marian Hanna believes in the education of all women regarding their products and that women should know exactly what’s in an intimate product, with potential consequences for their health.
In efforts to aid in passing the bill of the disclosure of pad and tampon ingredients, Marian Hanna wants to show full transparency and disclose all ingredients used in her pads and tampons.
Marian Hanna states, “It was important to me to diminish negative environmental impacts through ensuring this was 100% biodegradable.” While Marian Hanna was completing her MPH, she published a paper on the impacts of Climate Change in the International Journal of Epidemiology. You can read more here: CLIMATE CHANGE PAPER
Marian Hanna states that, “I plan to launch a WE THE PEOPLE petition on WHITE HOUSE.” She told us, ”Together we can get the attention to really make a change in the health and rights of women everywhere.”
Marian Hanna thanks you for the support and concluded by saying, “I really believe in this cause and hope you will too.”

Risks and challenges
Marian Hanna has been trying to produce this product for over a year. She states, “the hardest part was developing a product that was 100% biodegradable (from the packaging to the individual wrappers).” However, now, the difficulty is the funding to produce such a custom product.
Sustainable materials
(1) The surface layer is an organic cotton surface layer. (2) The absorption layer has an organic cotton core and does not contain a super absorbent resin. (3) The base film and outer envelope are made from a degradable corn base film and envelope.
Material characteristics and advantages : (1) The organic cotton surface layer: Organic cotton is a pure natural non-polluting cotton. Chemicals are not used in the agricultural process. Non-woven fabrics made of organic cotton fibers have good gas permeability, moisture absorption, softness and are non-irritating; (2) The organic cotton core contains only machine cotton fiber and does not contain polymer absorbent resin. The organic cotton core has good absorption, breathability, comfort and is naturally hypoallergenic. This is beneficial to human health and the environment, as it can be naturally degraded with no environmental pollution. (3) The degradable corn base film envelope: The base film is made from corn, wheat, and other starch-based materials, fermented into lactic acid and then polymerized and spun. The fiber is ultra-smooth, moisture absorbent, contains good permeability and naturally antibacterial. Corn based film envelope has good biodegradability and can be completely degraded by microorganisms in nature in certain conditions, eventually producing carbon dioxide and water without polluting the environment.
Consumer may pre-order from October 28th – November 5th during their Kickstarter campaign.
