U.S. Exports of Diesel and Diesel-Electric Locomotives Dropped by 20% to $743M (in 2014, Yoy) - IndexBox Marketing

IndexBox Marketing has just published a new report "World: Diesel And Diesel-Electric Locomotives - Market Report. Analysis and Forecast to 2020"

Despite a year to year drop in exports of 20% in 2014, the U.S. held the second spot in the trade of global diesel and diesel-electric locomotives. In 2014, the U.S. exported 681 units of diesel and diesel-electric locomotives totaling 743 million USD. Its primary trading partner was Australia, where it supplied 32.4% of its total diesel and diesel-electric locomotives exports in value terms, accounting for 75.2% of Australia's total imports. 

From 2007 to 2014, the U.S. was a net exporter of diesel and diesel-electric locomotives. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was less pronounced in 2014. 

Mexico and Ukraine were among the other main global suppliers of diesel and diesel-electric locomotives in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Turkey (+78.7% per year) and South Africa (+46.9% per year). 

The U.S.'s top 5 trading partners in 2014 were Australia, Canada, Mozambique, the United Kingdom and Brazil, with a combined share of 81.6% of U.S. diesel and diesel-electric locomotives exports. The share of Mozambique rose sharply (+15.4 percentage points), while the share of Brazil fell slightly (-2.6 percentage points).
