For the first time in four years, Paul McCartney will return to the city of Detroit for a performance in conjunction with his “Out There” tour. He will be performing in Michigan as part of a tour which he has been on since 2013 and has already included several legs in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. His stop in Detroit will be at Joe Louis Arena and this date is part of five new shows announced for October. This concert in particular will occur on Wednesday, October 21 and will bring fans from around the region to the area for this once in a lifetime show featuring one of the top artists of the past 50 years.
The last time McCartney performed in Detroit was in 2011 when he performed at Comerica Park and before that performed a pair of shows at the Palace of Auburn Hills in 2005. If his recent performance at Lollapalooza is any indication, fans will be able to catch a heavy set list of Beatles music when he takes the stage. McCartney was one of the founding members of the iconic English group and together with John Lennon, formed one of the most legendary songwriting pairs in the history of music.
McCartney, the native of Liverpool, England, is showing zero signs of slowing down despite turning 73 earlier this summer. He is one of the most respected artists, songwriters, and all-around musicians in the business. He has written or co-written 32 songs that have reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Beatles and as a solo artist. After the Beatles broke up, McCartney had a successful run in the group, Wings, along with then-wife Linda, and Denny Laine.
Joe Louis Arena is the home of the Detroit Red Wings from the National Hockey League and originally opened in 1979. The venue has been used for countless memorable sporting events and entertainment events over the years including collegiate basketball tournaments, ice skating competitions, WNBA Finals, and concerts including New Year’s Eve shows featuring the Zac Brown Band.
