IBM opens Social Business Lab and Business Analytics Lab with Entrepreneurship and Management Process International Business School

Facility in Delhi Supports Development of Solutions Integrating Business Analytics & Social Capabilities into Business Processes.

India, Jan 05, 2015: Entrepreneurship and Management Process International (EMPI Business School) and IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced the opening of IBM Social Business Lab and IBM Business Analytics Lab at the New Delhi campus of EMPI. This engagement will enable the development of education ecosystem and solutions, which will help in integrating analytics and social capabilities into business processes.

The way the world looks at opportunities today is changing. Latching onto the trend, business environment across the globe and India is evolving rampantly. This shift has pushed the demand of skilled IT professionals for deploying required skill sets and keeping the business on the move in an immensely competitive environment. The program by IBM will prepare management students to embrace the growing social business opportunity as the worldwide market for social platforms is expected to reach $1.86 billion by the end of 2014.*

“The last decade witnessed the evolution of businesses through social platforms,” said Anmol Nautiyal, Director, IBM Social business & IBM Smarter Workforce, “India has always been a sought after market for highly skilled employees. The set-up of the Social Business Lab is our step towards equipping our future professionals for an emerging function that is bound to take every sector by storm. We are all set to create a ready smarter workforce only to benefit the industry and meet the gap between market demand and supply.”

Empowering future generation by developing a Social Ecosystem

IBM will help design the course content based on IBM software technologies as well as business insights and practical management skills from IBM Career Education Program. In addition to IBM professionals, this will draw on a large pool of experts from the industry and the higher education sector rather than relying on the knowledge of a small number of teachers.

Through this agreement, the course will be provided to help prepare the next-generation workforce with the skills and expertise needed to embrace big data as the next frontier for innovation for the coming decades. While many leading enterprises have already realized the value of social for driving innovation and increasing competitiveness, there are not enough skilled professionals to deploy and maintain the infrastructure based on this new technology.

Delivering value by bridging the gap between technology and business

As part of the collaboration, EMPI Business School, in association with IBM, will launch certificate programs for their management students. The curriculum of the programs is being developed jointly with EMPI faculty, which will bring their knowledge of Marketing Management, Business Analytics, Digital media, while IBM will provide tools and technologies such as IBM Cognos, IBM Connections, Content Manager, Analytics and education services. IBM will train faculty members of EMPI on various IBM software and the courses will be run on the campus at EMPI.

Commenting on the alliance Mr. Pankaj Saran, Vice-President (Strategic Initiatives), EMPI said, “From developers to business managers, social business and analytical skills are essential for future growth. Today's students – the entrepreneurs and leaders of the 21st century – must turn their personal understanding of social media into business ready expertise. To help ensure the future workforce is prepared for this new era of business, we have collaborated with IBM for this program and are upbeat about its practical implications in the longer run.”
