Shameka Allen (born March 16,) is an author, rap artist, songwriter, and entrepreneur who was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She is of Brazilian and Indian descent, and it was early childhood resemblance to the Indian Princess Pocahontas that earned her the moniker (Hontiss). Her parents were both avid fans of R&B/Soul music, and several family members were also apart of a very successful neighborhood band, so Hontiss was fortunate enough to be exposed to different genres of music at a very young age. This early introduction to music is what shaped the beginning of Hontiss's desire to bring her own words to life. From the outside looking in, Hontiss was growing up in the "perfect" situation…but from the inside looking out...Life wasn't always what it seemed. Growing up, dolls and games were of no real interest to Hontiss. Instead, she was drawn to guns, fast money, and life in the streets. Her adversities became her platform, and Hontiss began writing books and songs as a way of coping with her everyday struggle. An avid fan of hip hop and artists such as Biggie, 50 Cent, Lil Kim, Jay Z, and Cash Money, it wasn't long before this same desire to be a part of the game, cultivated her desire as a rap artist. To hone her skills, Hontiss began performing at showcases & events in and around NYC, and it was a chance meeting with Reggae Superstar Gyptian that led to their collaboration in 2010 on his hit single "Love of my Life". It wasn't long before Hontiss began garnering the attention of the industry and is currently working on the release of her first solo single "Brooklyn" set to drop in late 2011. Fuelled by the passion and desire that so many lack, the possibilities are endless, and the future for Hontiss holds no limits.
