Lansing, MI, USA (October 6, 2014) -- It could be called a major pairing of political and politically incorrect. But whatever descriptions you pin on legendary comedians Dick Gregory and Paul Mooney, you'd better start with raw, jarring and just damn funny.
Of course, laced in both of their routines will be some heavy insights on race, civil rights and current events - plus some health tips from Gregory -- and a lot of talk that might make those who haven't been to a Gregory or Mooney show...well, uncomfortable.
"There's definitely a defined audience for Gregory and one for Mooney, but for students of comedy and history this is probably one of the best pairings ever," said Mark Jackson of CEP Presents, the company promoting the show.
The pair's performance is set for Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 8 p.m. at Fahrenheit, 6810 S. Cedar St. in Lansing, MI. General admission tickets are $30, premium seating is $40 and VIP access is $50.
While in recent years Mooney gained notability with his role as "Negrodamus" and as a frequent guest on the Dave Chappelle show, his real claim to fame is his work as a writer for the late great comedian Richard Pryor. Mooney has authored a book, "Black is the New White," with a forward from Chappelle.
Gregory, who began performing in the 1950s, has always blended consciousness, activism and humor in his routine and has been a fixture in civil rights efforts. He has authored more than a dozen books and is listed as one of Comedy Central's 100 Greatest Stand-Ups.
