Emely Torres Helps Women Entrepreneurs Share Their Compelling Stories Through Breathtaking Video Content
Much of my work is focused on telling the smaller, more relatable stories, documenting love, resilience, confidence, vulnerability, and ultimately helping my clients put out their stories that otherwise wouldn't be told.

Today we’d like to present to you Emely Torres.

It’s a privilege to speak with you today. Would you share details about you and your background? How did you get to where you are today?

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, but I was always convinced I would move to the States and build my ideal life and career there. I made it too; I went to university in Texas, and established my career as a video editor in New York and Los Angeles, creating content for brands such as Ford Motors, ABC Studios, Charles Schwab, Omaze, among others.

However, in 2017, I felt an inexplicable need to come home. I did, for what I thought would be a temporary stay, a few months at most. But then… Hurricane Maria hit. My family and I were fortunate to not lose much other than electricity for five months, but the island was (and to a large extent, still is) suffering greatly. The network I had built throughout the years came to my aid, and sent physical and monetary donations for us to distribute to those in need. It quickly became clear to me that my purpose was here in Puerto Rico, and my time since I’ve been back has altered my perspective on life and the kinds of stories I want to tell. I have seen the resilience, the strength, the love, and the unity of my people, who consistently keep getting hit with disaster after disaster, but come through the other side stronger than before.

So today, much of my work is focused on telling the smaller, more relatable stories, documenting love, resilience, confidence, vulnerability, and ultimately helping my clients put out their stories that otherwise wouldn’t be told, and take the next steps to continue building their future.

I’m sure your success wasn’t just handed to you on a silver platter. What hurdles have you had to overcome along the way?

The consistent disasters that my home has faced in the past three years have diverted my attention from growing my business to helping others as best I can. Despite what we’ve gone through, I’m so glad to have been able to be home with my family, and to replant myself in my roots. Coming back home initially felt like a setback, but I’ve come to realize that it was in fact a pivot into a truer purpose of helping others, both through media and service.

Now let’s talk about the work you do. What area do you specialize in and why should people work with you over the competition?

I am a content creator, with an emphasis on photography and video production. Fortunately, the surge in usage of platforms like Zoom and StreamYard has allowed me to help my clients create short form promotional videos from the comfort of our individual homes. My clientele consists mostly of women who have their own businesses or passion projects, and are looking for someone that can help their vision come to life. I strive to bring a level of comfort to every project, so that my clients can feel at ease and feel emboldened to truly be themselves, thereby creating an authentic experience, to be reflected in the final photo or video.
