June 30, 2020 - It has been a challenging 2020 for New York City restaurants and high energy Chef Michele Casadei Massari’s Lucciola, located near Central Park at 90th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, is no exception. Fortunately, things are looking up with exciting news. Chef Casadei Massari, who has brought his culinary passion from his native Bologna, Italy to New York City to high praise, recently celebrated the reopening of Lucciola, to high anticipation. With a menu expertly developed for its combination of flavor and simplicity – no dish has more than five ingredients – all signs point to 2020 finishing strong for Lucciola and Chef Casadei Massari alike.
“We are feeling very passionate about having the opportunity to get back to work here at Lucciola,” commented Chef Casadei Massari. “We all need to come together after the lockdown and enjoy fine food, company, and all the other wonderful things New York City brings to us. I am happy to do my part.”
Casadei Massari is an exceptional man by any standards. Trained in medicine at University before following his heart into culinary, his love for science has added a rare facet to his food that helps drive it into the exceptional. And his love for culture and art goes even further, being not just a world class chef and successful entrepreneur, but also a conceptual photographer, an executive producer of books and music, a compelling public speaker, a film advisor, T-shirt designer, and avid teacher of most of these things and more.
Lucciola was founded in 2017, and is the second restaurant by Chef Casadei Massari. It’s name pays homage to Festa di Laurea director Pupi Avati. Lucciola focuses on Emilia Romagna cuisine, wines, and traditional Italian desserts, having consistently won five-star reviews becoming a New York City favorite.
