HOLLYWOOD / INFLUENCERS UNITE TO SUPPORT 'NONA'

Hollywood's top talent and influencers – Priyanka Chopra, Zoe Saldana, Eiza Gonzalez, Jenna Dewan and Selma Blair – have spoken out against human trafficking in support for Kate Bosworth and her recent film, 'NONA'.

Los Angeles, CA - March 28, 2019 - Following the release of ‘NONA’, the film industry unites to speak out against the global epidemic of human trafficking. Watch ‘NONA’ today: https://nonamovie.com/watch.

From longtime celebrated Cinematographer / Writer  / Director Michael Polish (Big Sur, Twin Falls Idaho, Northfork) and Executive Producer, Kate Bosworth (Blue Crush, Superman Returns, Netflix’s upcoming I-Land), NONA has sparked Hollywood/influencers to shed light on the ongoing and worldwide issue of human trafficking.

“With NONA – we seek to give a face to this global epidemic, and through our art, contribute to making the world a better place,” stated Bosworth in recent interview with Parade.

Produced by Make Pictures Productions, NONA follows the journey of a young Honduran woman who becomes a victim of human trafficking after falling into the trap of a charismatic man, promising her a better life in America. According to Polaris (the nonprofit that seeks to disrupt trafficking networks), “In most cases, victims are recruited into sexual slavery by intimate partners or someone who they think could become an intimate partner,” reported Bustle.

As a story of survival against all odds, the NONA (aka ‘No Name’) follows Nona (Sulem Calderon) who encounters a handsome traveler, Hecho (Jesy McKinney), who promises to get her safely to America, where she can reunite with her mother. Beginning as an idyllic and scenic trip headed for a better life, Nona’s journey soon becomes perilous as she reaches the Mexican border. Transcending into ultimate darkness with her eyes blindfolded, Nona realizes that what she thought was a love story is actually a nightmare.

Polish’s empathetic and powerful narrative storytelling strips down to showcase the vulgar, disgusting business and manipulation of human trafficking, painting an entirely new picture of how we see and deal with the worldwide epidemic. NONA was made to put a face to the name (hence, ‘No Name’) of the countless victims impacted by human trafficking from all four corners of the world, making clear that these victims aren’t faceless statistics.

“Bosworth gives a monologue explaining the events of the previous 85 minutes – each glimmer of betrayal by Hecho comes to light, and each questionable choice melts away as the story comes to a climax, mirroring the first shot, settling on Nona’s face,” wrote The Simple Cinephile.

NONA is a wakeup for viewers to move towards taking action and providing empathy after realistically seeing those who have survived the impossible.

Top Hollywood talent and influencers, including Priyanka Chopra, Zoe Saldana, Eiza Gonzalez, Jenna Dewan, Selma Blair and more, have shown support for Bosworth and NONA, as they’ve united over the cause of human trafficking, speaking out for the need to protect the countless innocent victims worldwide, reminding us that each are human beings themselves.
