28 Sep, 2017 - Aurora, CO - Nanotech Engineering Inc is excited to announce that MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) has verified the technology of their new Nanopanel™, a solar panel that is 92% efficient as opposed to 20% for the large, traditional panels.

David Sweeney, CEO of Nanotech said, “We are pleased to have such a prestigious University verify what we already knew, that our Nanopanel™ is the next and last generation of solar panels.” The nationwide average cost per Watt for Solar is $3.26, the Nanopanel™ cost per watt is only .55 cents.

Jeffrey Grossman, Professor of Engineering, MIT, said: “Pound for pound, the new solar cells produce up to 1,000 times more power than conventional photovoltaics”. In their study of Graphene for solar panel use, he also stated, “Such panels surpass any substance other than reactor-grade uranium in terms of energy produced per pound of material, Graphene packs hundreds of times more power per weight than conventional solar cells.”

Earlier in the year, Nanotech Engineering Inc. had shaken up the energy world by announcing the Nanopanel™, a solar panel with layers of Graphene as the base, a Carbon Nanotube Forest on top with a mineral solution that can come in any color to match the home. “The panel is slightly thicker and wider than a FedEx envelope, yet stronger than steel, flexible, lightweight, flexible and about half the cost of traditional panels,” said Sweeney. “We believe we have solved the solar problem, the panels used today are expensive, large, heavy, brittle and are only 20% efficient in ideal situations.”

Sweeney anticipates the Nanopanel to not just replace old applications, but gain new market share, maybe even be included in new construction, “we also anticipate seeing them in parts of the world that have less than ideal weather, after all, photons still move through clouds, the fact that the panel is so efficient, if they only get 40% in cloudy parts of the world, it’s still double efficiency of traditional panels.”

“The MIT study showed that the Nanopanel is more than a Solar Panel, it’s more of a new way to generate energy with many applications outside of homes” MIT stated in their study “For applications where weight is a crucial factor — such as in spacecraft, aviation or for use in remote areas of the developing world where transportation costs are significant — such lightweight cells could already have great potential”.
