Executive Chef Madan Lal Delights Patrons With A New Menu Featuring Classic Comforts From The Heartland of India

Arlington, VA - Aroma a Fine Indian Cuisine, known for creating comfort Indian food that reminds guests of India, is now launching their winter menu to embrace the cool, chilly months ahead. Aroma’s new menu will offer seasonally inspired cuisine, thoughtfully prepared by Executive Chef Madan Lal and his team of culinary experts who only work with the highest quality of fresh ingredients available in their local market.

“The new menu went through a few taste tests and changes. We wanted to use the everyday American cuisine items like the salmon and the lobster and highlight them with exotic Indian spices,” says Chef Madan Lal who has worked at Aroma Restaurant since 2001. “We carefully crafted the new dishes like the “Egg Drop Chicken Corn Soup,” “Pudhina (mint) Kofta Masala,” and “Chicken Banjara Kabob” for the winter season in the Washington Metropolitan area.”

The new winter menu will highlight the best of Aroma while showcasing an irresistible array of newly launched Indian dishes that will give guests a wider variety of options to choose from. These new menu items are sure to impress with their authenticity and please any palate with a fusion of flavors. The new menu is scheduled to debut at a VIP tasting event in early November.

Here are some of the items from the winter menu:

  • Khatta Meetha Baingan - Eggplant marinated in red wine, seared on a grill and layered with potatoes. Enjoy this dish with a coconut milk sauce flavored with a dash of Indian spices.
  • Kandhari Lamb Chops - Enjoy these “fall of the bone” lamb chops that have been marinated overnight and flavored with fresh herbs.
  • Salmon Puff Pastry - One bite and you’ll be indulged in comfort. The salmon is seasoned with lime juice and a blend of Indian spices then baked into a delicate puff pastry with spinach. It rests on top of a bed of mashed potatoes.
  • Masala Lobster - Lobster marinated overnight in creamy yogurt and garam masala. It is then sautéed with butter and cilantro and served with polenta fries.
  • Tava Meen - Pan seared Tilapia served with a citrus beurre blanc sauce and quinoa salad. This fresh dish is inspired by the Atlantic and fishing expeditions of Kerala, a state on India's tropical Malabar Coast.

Nestled in the heart of the Village at Shirlington, a shopping center built in 1944, the restaurant remains a dinning choice for both locals and tourists alike. Daljeet Chhatwal, owner of Aroma Restaurant says, “The new menu is designed to satisfy diverse palates. Chef Madan Lal and his team always pay close attention to seasonal trends in the food industry, providing our guests with a memorable culinary experience.” He adds, “The red and yellow decor along with the custom drop down lanterns, hand crafted in India also makes the restaurant a venue of choice for private events and large get togethers.”

The team at Aroma proudly supports the local community including schools and non-profit organizations such as, Children’s National Foundation and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. They recently announced giving a percent of their November revenue to the Susan G. Komen foundation in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The restaurant is also participating at this year’s awards gala for the American Friends of Phelophepa Train of Hope, a non-profit organization that has delivered primary health care, education and outreach programs to over 21 million South Africans.
