Håvard Rosenlund is a biologist and conservationist who has always had a love for wildlife. He has studied elephants in Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, and leopards in Zululand, South Africa.
Rosenlund says, "What really got to me during my time in Africa was the difficulties you face as a researcher and conservationist working in a third world country. Funding is hard to come by, especially if you work in areas with less tourism, and equipment is rarely up to date. Governments continue to reduce funding for conservation, and many protected areas are heavily understaffed. This eventually gave me an idea. Using my own experience from working in Africa and newfound love for wildlife photography, I want to set out on a quest to seek out local conservation projects around the world working to save endangered species and wildlife. I will document their work and the species they try to protect on my blog using both photos and videos."
The Wildlife Conservation Quest will seek out biodiversity hotspots and the species living there to show the world the importance of protecting such areas and why there is a need to fight to end habitat destruction, illegal hunting, and environmental pollution.
All funds raised by the IndieGoGo campaign, located at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/wildlife-conservation-quest--3#/story, will be used to fund project activities and travel. Updates on all progress will be noted at http://wildlifevagabond.com. Pledge levels range from $5 to $2,500 and prizes include wildlife photographs, post cards, videos and even a hiking and photography trip with the sponsor.
For more information and for specific prizes associated with various pledge levels, see the IndieGoGo page.
