ROANOKE, Va. - February 17, 2026 - Star City School of Ballet announced today it will host The Joffrey Workshop on Saturday, February 28, 2026, and Sunday, March 1, 2026, bringing one of the nation’s most respected, official dance education programs directly to the Roanoke Valley. Open to the public and requiring no audition, the workshop invites dancers who train regularly to experience professional-level instruction in a supportive and inclusive environment.
For more than 45 years, The Joffrey Workshop has inspired generations of dancers through rigorous technique, artistic exploration, and a deep appreciation for concert dance. The Roanoke program will feature a varied curriculum taught by experienced Joffrey faculty, offering students exposure to national standards of excellence without the cost and burden of traveling to major cities. “For many families, elite dance training has traditionally meant expensive travel and limited access,” said Ana Elisa Martinez de la Peña, Managing Director of Star City School of Ballet. “By bringing the official Joffrey Workshop directly to Roanoke, we’re removing those barriers and showing young dancers that world-class opportunities can exist right here in their own community.”
By hosting the workshop locally, Star City School of Ballet is removing barriers to elite arts education and expanding opportunities for dancers across the region. The partnership reflects the school’s broader mission to strengthen the local arts ecosystem and ensure talented students can access world-class training close to home.
