Tell us about Right Across the Bay.

How did your background and experience influence your writing?
As a lifelong mystery and thriller enthusiast, I’ve known since the third grade that I wanted to create stories to entertain others. Now, as I approach my 50th published book, I can confidently say that my craft has evolved with experience.
In Right Across the Bay, I set out to captivate readers with an unexpected yet believable twist while showcasing my love for Lake Shetek, a real gem in southwest Minnesota. Having lived on its shores for 25 years, the lake and nearby towns like Currie, Slayton, and Tracy inspired the vivid setting of the story.
Ultimately, this novel is my tribute to a beloved community and the thrill of a well-spun tale.
What is one message you would like readers to remember?
A great thriller thrives on a carefully crafted twist—one that’s not just shocking but seamlessly woven into the story. For me, every chapter ends with a challenge: creating a moment so compelling that readers can’t help but turn the page.
Tangled relationships and buried secrets have become second nature in my storytelling, adding depth to characters and intrigue to their histories. I’m endlessly fascinated by the idea of someone living "the good life" while hiding something monumental—a theme that often sneaks into my work.
Having mastered the formula for a gripping thriller, I aim to defy expectations, delivering surprises that even diehard fans won’t see coming. Like my favorite unconventional movies and books, my stories are designed to keep readers guessing until the very end.
