Maya Mitra Das is a celebrated poet and fiction writer with a background as diverse as her stories. A native of India, she earned her M.D. and Ph.D. through studies in internal medicine and pediatrics in India, England, and the United States. She has completed fellowships in hematology-oncology at UCLA Medical Center and radiation oncology at the University of California, San Francisco. Currently, she serves at the Children’s Hospital in Oakland, California, focusing on sickle cell disease in children.
A multi-talented artist, Das also performs Bharatnatyam, a classical Indian dance form. Her poetry and fiction have appeared in Rhythms Primeval, Tuesday’s Poetry, and other anthologies.
