KazAID and National Information Technologies (NITEC) expand the geography of cooperation: Kazakhstan IT solutions will be exported to Sierra Leone

Within the framework of previously reached agreements, Kazakhstan will provide technical assistance in the development of e-government of the Republic of Sierra Leone. The transfer of digital components of e-government under KazAID grant assistance took place at the summit “Sierra Leone Innovates 2024” in Freetown.

Export of Kazakhstan IT solutions became possible as a result of an earlier signed Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation of Sierra Leone. Within the framework of the agreement, the Kazakhstan side transferred services “Smart Bridge Display of Services,” “Unified Platform of Internet resources of government agencies,” and information and analytical system “Smart Data Ukimet.”

The Kazakhstan delegation is currently assessing the digital maturity of the country’s ICT infrastructure for further successful implementation of Kazakhstan IT solutions. This visit demonstrates a high degree of confidence in domestic developments and marks the expansion of the geographical presence of Kazakhstan digital solutions beyond the continent. This is the first African country where Kazakhstan is implementing official development assistance.

As a reminder, today Kazakhstan holds high positions in international rankings in the field of e-government. According to the United Nations E-Government Survey, our country is on the 28th place among 193 states on the index of e-government development (UN Global E-Government Development Index); in addition to the 8th place on the index of quality of online services.

For the record, Sierra Leone is a state in West Africa rich in its natural resources including diamonds, gold and titanium. The capital and largest city is Freetown. The population of Sierra Leone is about 8 million.
