Sophia Brown’s New Album, Bad For Me, Drops April 29, 2022

Kingston, Jamaica - With her highly anticipated album Bad for Me set to drop on April 29, 2022, Jamaican singer Sophia Brown is eager for the world to hear what she believes is her best work yet.

Brown poured her soul into her fourth studio album, her first since the 2017 release of Change, and that she hopes will put her in the running for a Reggae Grammy Award.

"I wanted this, my fourth studio album, to be something spectacular. I want to look at it as one of my greatest works. I find I am more mature as an artist, as a producer and I tend to stick to the fine line where music and creativity are concerned," Brown says of Bad for Me which will be distributed by Zojakworldwide

"People know me to sing love songs but we have some social commentary, we have dancehall, and we have House. I have broadened my horizons on this album, something for everyone, that is also desirable for airplay on any station.

"I am a perfectionist in that sense because I like to know that whatever I am creating the world will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it."

To support distribution, the Jamaican chanteuse has several shows lined up across the USA, United Kingdom and Europe and a music video for the title track is also ready for release.

"No country will be left untouched. I want to spread the word globally when it comes on to this particular project. We have gone through a pandemic and we have used music to help soothe the world and, basically, I just want to send this out universally," she says.

Bad for Me comprises 10 songs that include previously released hits like the infectious My Religion, a collaboration with Duane Stephenson, Stronger, Baby When You Left as well the title track, Bad for Me, which dropped in February 2022.

Except for the Sydney Mills-produced Baby When You Left, Brown takes production credits for all the other songs on the album.

The album will be released on Brown's MusicMecka label and is also a celebration of the singer’s triumphant return from a near-fatal motor vehicle accident in Maryland, USA, in 2017.

She eventually returned to the studio in 2020 to resume what has so far been a remarkable career that began when she released her first official single Love You Pure in 2008.

Since then she has become known internationally as one of Jamaica's leading purveyors of classy, reggae soul songs that have won her a strong global following, especially among the Diaspora.

Videos of her songs are aired regularly on World Reggae TV, Fox Italy, RETV, and TEMPO.

“As a woman who has been in this business for more than two decades as an independent artist in a male-dominated industry, I am happy to be still here standing strong being the best I can be at my craft,” she said.

“It's very exciting to be able to produce and executive produce music and that is a very fulfilling, comforting feeling. It gives me the joy to do what I do for the universe to find some form of satisfaction.”

Brown expressed optimism that her long-time fans, who have been waiting five years for new music, will enjoy this latest work. She also wants new fans to fall in love with Bad for Me as she resumes her musical journey in earnest.
