Consistently, women keep proving to the world that gender is not a barrier to being the best in what one choses to become. In recognition of the outstanding achievements of women in different spheres of life, even in the light of social gender inequalities, the United Nations chose March 8 as international Women's Day. The theme for this year's celebration (IWD 2021) is, “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.”
They will be celebrating the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. The activities for this great day will certainly extend into the coming weeks. The keynote speaker, Dafna Michaelson Jenet, is a Democratic member of the Colorado House of Representatives, has a career that spans over 20 years in leadership roles across the non-profit sector. In 2009, inspired to take her community problem solving skills to the next level, she embarked on a journey traveling to all 50 states during one calendar year to find and share stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things to solve problems in their communities.
