NHU achieved distinction again! The project, "Research and Development of Key Technologies and Industrialization of Linalool and Citral Fragrances", won the first prize for scientific and technological progress of China Light Industry Federation.
China Light Industry Federation is a national, comprehensive, service-oriented and management-oriented industrial intermediary organization for light industry. NHU is a rising star in the flavor and fragrance industry, and this award is a strong affirmation of NHU' s deep ploughing in the field over the past decade and its contribution to the industry. Spices are compounds or mixtures for flavoring, which can be divided into fragrances, spices and tobacco flavors for daily use. Flavors are fragrant and harmonious mixture, which can be used as complementary materials added to other products. In our soap, toothpaste, shampoo, skin care products and other daily chemicals, as well as a variety of food, beverages, tobacco, flavors and spices are essential. They emit pleasant fragrance, or contribute to the delicious taste, pleasure and beautification of people's lives.
Linalool and citral are not so familiar to people not in the light industry, but they are still in the leadership of the field. Linalool series and citral series spices occupy a high proportion in the flavor formulations, and are the core raw materials of the world's major spices manufacturing enterprises. However, Its core technology is only grasped by a few companies. The raw material of linalool and citral fragrances in China mainly comes from natural extraction, which is low in content and susceptible to natural conditions. In order to change this situation, in 2001, NHU took up the research with the concept of "market orientation, and internal and external integration", adopted the innovative mode, digested advanced experience and cooperated with Zhejiang University to jointly launch the “Key Technologies Research and Industrialization of Linalool and Citral Fragrances”. After more than 10 years of research and development, through innovation and breakthrough of key technologies, NHU has participated in the formulation of 7 national standards, 7 industry standards, a total of 17 authorized invention patents, and has published 23 papers. In 2014, with the joint efforts of NHU and Zhejiang University, the industrialized production of linalool and citral, two series of more than 20 spices, was successfully realized. This breakthrough makes linalool and citral more affordable for domestic spice industry.
The industrialization of linalool and citral fragrances has helped NHU achieve good economic and social benefits. Moreover, the popularization and application of key technologies of the project greatly promoted the international market share of this series of flavors and fragrances, and the key technologies were extended to the production of raspberry ketone raw materials. This success has not only greatly enriched our spice industry, but also promoted the overall technological progress.
