The Patchsmith is changing the embroidered patch game.

The Patchsmith began operating locally in NYC with plans to expand nationwide according to the young embroidery company. Hoping to fill a critical niche in the embroidery production business, The Patchsmith'sbusiness model seems to be that "there is no order too small." Indeed, The Patchsmith prides itself on doing business on even the smallest orders of one patch, giving it the same attention to detail as large orders.

Boasting custom designs, free heat-sealed backing, polyneon or rayon threads, and even having all their patches cut by hand—The Patchsmithhas been a local hit here in NYC.

Aside from custom patches, The Patchsmith also offers their own patches in their “mini-store.” These patches vary in size and style, but cover many different niches and fun categories. And with their clearance rack, their patch-production line (heat-pressed and hand-cut) has put out some classic staples which are currently on discount.

Cailey Golden, the founder of “The Patchsmith,” spoke of the future of her small start-up as “promising” because of the burgeoning market for embroidery. As she explains, “Especially in NYC, there seems to be an increasing demand for customized patches. In fact, the idea occurred to me upon seeing people at previous embroidery production jobs being turned away because doing a single patch was a hassle.”

The Patchsmith is still young, but their emergence on the local embroidery market has been met with an increased visibility in the various NYC embroidery scenes. As of now, ThePatchsmith has their own online shop and production line of embroideries, but they hope to expand to dedicated patch-buying customers in more NYC localities this year. The Patchsmith will be making its move into Manhattan before the beginning of the fall.
