Dubai, UAE - With cybersecurity becoming more of a severe issue in today’s digital world, it is essential to prepare young people for the challenges ahead. The program starts on February 21st and ends on May 21st, 2018. The program is organized to create awareness among school students, parents, and educators on e-safety, cyber security, cyberbullying, device vulnerability, ransomware, and other risks we face in today’s hyper-connected world. Over 30 schools across UAE and around 90,000 students, parents and educators are expected to participate.

Student Cybersecurity Awareness Day campaign will deliver a comprehensive educational package to the UAE’s school system to ensure that students know how to protect themselves online. Cybersecurity is beyond anti-virus and firewalls; students need to learn the rudiments of online security including recent threats.
Several activities have been lined up for the campaign including classroom sessions, question and answer sessions, educational videos, and distribution of leaflets. Topics to be discussed include an introduction to student cybersecurity, implications of cybercrime, cybersecurity and the UAE’s law on cybercrime. Students will also learn online best practices to help stay protected against ransomware, phishing and clickjacking, and mobile threats, while learning what to do when they encounter online harassment or their personal information has been compromised in a data breach.
