Anjali comes from a long line of musicians from Guyana although she was born and raised in Brooklyn. Her sound merges vibes from India, Latin America, the Caribbean, and soul. Throughout her career, she has felt the struggles of the people of the country that much of her ancestry is from. She was compelled to make music that could help heal her people who currently hold the worlds highest suicide rate and to bring a voice to those stories many might not know about.
Anjali has made inspired soul-influenced music throughout her career and has worked with the world tops producers and musicians. Her second album includes work supported by Bashiri Johnson, percussionist for Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and Sting among many other musical stars. World-famous drummer Sivamani directed Anjali's first album recorded in IndiaSivamani.
These opportunities have allowed her to be groomed by the best in every arena of song writing and performance and allowed her to see the world and its issues on her journey.
This past week, Anjali released a record that will be included on her dual album launch this Spring. “Om” Street Style was released online for free for the holy night of Shivraatri to inspire her people to have faith that someone would go forth and bring world attention to the stories and issues plaguing them.
The message that she wants to convey to the rest of the world is that it is vital for people to use their voices at this time.
