Sandy, UTAH – Youth sport coaches, Scout leaders, teachers, foster parents, church groups, and other non-profit and community service groups are invited to schedule free first aid and CPR training from Utah EMT and certified instructor Dave Bresnahan during Heart Month. Bresnahan is the owner of Utah Emergency Care and Safety Training LLC.
The training provided meets all the standards of the Red Cross, American Heart Association, Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and all other regulatory agencies, according to Bresnahan.
“The normal cost for a combination first aid, CPR, and AED training can cost more than $100 making it financially challenging for many people to receive the training they need so they can save lives,” explained Bresnahan. “I want to bring this training to as many people as possible, so I am donating my services to non-profit groups and community organizations to help their members get trained without the usual high costs,” he added.
Bresnahan said that the number one reason victims die from life-threatening trauma and illness such as heart attacks and stroke is because bystanders do not recognize the seriousness of the problem, and do not know what to do to save a life. Many victims die before and ambulance arrives because no one took action to save them.
“I know that as more people get trained, the more lives will be saved. That’s pretty motivating for me to want to get as many people to attend my classes as possible. Last year during Heart Month (February) I taught 432 people. This year I hope to increase that and teach 500 during the entire month,” said Bresnahan.

When he is not working on the set of a film project, he teaches many different health and safety classes to help companies meet OSHA and other regulatory requirements through his company Utah Emergency Care and Safety Training.
Boy scouts looking for an Eagle Scout project are encouraged to consider organizing a training class for their troop leaders, church members, or community to attend. Youth sport groups can have a training class for their coaches, and groups of moms or foster parent groups may also wish to set up classes.
