Barbra Streisand who was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1942 started out as cabaret singer. But her performances on Broadway led to recording contracts and many awards. Streisand made her Broadway debut, I Can Get it For You Wholesale in 1962. She received Tony nomination for her performance and won the New York Drama Critics Award at age nineteen that put Streisand on the fast track to a stardom. Her singing career also blossomed with her first album, The Barbra Streisand Album is the debut album released in February 25, 1963. With ten, Ms. Streisand is the female artist with the most number one albums in Billboard’s history. She is also the best-selling female recording artist in history, with over 72 million albums sold.
Barbra Streisand also starred in many feature TV and films. she made her television debut on The Jack Paar Show. Her movie career took off after starring in Funny Girl in 1968.
