Sierra Social Marketing, a Reno-based digital marketing agency, is celebrating its two-year anniversary by doing what it does best: helping local nonprofits reach more people, tell stronger stories, and grow their missions online.
Since its founding in 2023, Sierra Social Marketing has worked with small businesses and nonprofits across Northern Nevada, but one of its most rewarding partnerships has been with the Nevada Northern Railway Museum, a National Historic Landmark in Ely, Nevada. Through video production, online ads, and social content, the agency has helped bring national attention—and thousands of new visitors—to one of the state’s most treasured pieces of living history.
“The Nevada Northern Railway isn't just a museum—it’s a vital part of our state’s story,” said Tyler Butterfield, co-founder of Sierra Social Marketing. “We saw an opportunity to help them grow through compelling storytelling and targeted digital strategy. It’s been one of the most fulfilling projects we’ve worked on.”
In the past year alone, Sierra Social’s campaigns for the railway have generated thousands of online ticket sales, revitalized its social media following, and helped elevate its standing as a tourism destination—despite the museum operating in one of the most rural parts of the state. The success has helped fuel preservation efforts, expand seasonal events, and spark interest among new generations of Nevadans.
And the railway is just one example.
Sierra Social Marketing has provided pro bono or discounted support to a variety of nonprofit organizations across the region, including community outreach events, fundraising campaigns, and awareness initiatives. The team believes that doing good and growing local business can go hand in hand.
“Our work goes beyond metrics—it’s about people,” said co-founder Nakai Dogger. “If we can help a nonprofit reach more donors, sell more tickets, or get the visibility they deserve, then we’re doing our job.”
As the company marks its second year, it’s also looking ahead. Plans are underway to launch a new program offering free video and ad services to one Nevada-based nonprofit each quarter, continuing their mission to support those who serve the community.
