A recent paper from Mr Subhajit Waugh, a scientific officer, contradicts the popular incompatible relationship between Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity. The study claims that the said contradiction is a hoax caused by some common mathematical mistakes, which need to be corrected to understand physics and cosmology correctly. Incidentally, the World’s largest physics conference will be held in Las Vegas from 5-10 march, 2023. Physicists can examine if his claims can rescue fundamental physics, which has been stuck for the last four decades as publicly claimed by prominent physicists themselves.
A 2022 research paper published by Subhajit Waugh, a scientist and researcher at Raja Ramanna Center for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), denies the century-old belief of a contradictory relationship between Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity. The study claims that the right representation of negative and imaginary numbers may lead to the unification of General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics. This may eventually help define the universe's shape, size, and methodology rightly.
According to Subhajit, the study strives to correct a series of mathematical assumptions. The physicist also believes these crucial corrections may further help save resources, knowledge, and money invested in investigating and understanding super-symmetrical and dark matter particles.
Waugh's research shows that the said mathematical fallacies eventually introduced string theory and supersymmetry theory, which further soured the forcefully created relation between Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity.
Mr. Waugh begins with an example to highlight the mistake committed in representing negative numbers. Suppose Mr. XYZ has borrowed one thousand dollars from the bank and spent it somewhere. Then one can either say “Mr. XYZ is in a debt of 1000 dollars”, or else one should say “Mr. XYZ owns -1000 dollars”. But one must not say “Mr. XYZ is in a debt of -1000 dollars”. The negative sign is automatically telling the direction (since debt is in the opposite direction of owning). Therefore, if negative numbers are used (i.e. along with the minus sign), then one should use the positive x-axis. If one does not use the minus sign, then one should use the negative x-axis (in the opposite direction of positive x-axis from the chosen origin). But one should never use both together.
The study further claims that this logic should also apply to imaginary numbers, and given this, the ever-talked Argand diagram should be reanalyzed. If an imaginary sign is used, then the (imaginary) numbers should be placed along with the real numbers of the x-axis. If the imaginary sign is not used, then they should be placed on the perpendicular y-axis. This simply means that when an imaginary sign is present, an additional dimension (i.e. perpendicular axis) has not been created. An imaginary sign hides in the crucial Minkowski-Einstein SpaceTime equation. It is not an equation of 4D SpaceTime continuum as Einstein and Minkowski wrongly believed. It all boils down to one missing dimension, which has created a mess in physics and cosmology. Mr Waugh believes that the little correction could change the end result of the entire calculation.
In addition, Subhajit’s research also claims that these findings may introduce a new way of thinking and analysis in the field of cosmology. It may help research fellows better understand SpaceTime - the arena where everything takes place. The said study also asserts that faulty scientific and mathematical assumptions have defined the universe as 3D flat and infinite as currently believed.
However, according to Mr. Subhajit, the curvature of a 3D surface can’t be measured by summing up the plane angles in a triangle. Instead, it requires the summation of solid angles. Subhajit has proposed the consideration of a tetrahedron instead of a triangle, as it may help measure the curvature of the universe precisely.
Overall, Mr. Waugh’s study has challenged many well-supported and popular scientific, mathematical, and cosmological theories to establish that the correct calculations can help humans discover the true relationship between Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity.
