2022 was an epic year for Reel Time Fishing we experienced the best run of Steelhead since the early 2000's great numbers of Idaho's crown jewel the extra-large B run steelhead were plentiful.
The Clearwater River has always been known for large fish but this year mass amounts of Steelhead over 20 lbs. were caught. Dworshak national fish hatchery in Orofino Idaho is the largest Steelhead hatchery in the world.
Perhaps the most exciting event was Reel Time Pro guide Travis Wendt breaking the Idaho state catch and release record catching a 9lb smallmouth, only to be topped by fellow Reel Time pro guide Joey Walton 9.14 lb.
Experts believe the next world record Smallmouth Bass may come out of Dworshak reservoir this high mountain lake boasts a massive population of very small Kokanee combine that with somewhat mild winter water temperature allowing these bass to feed and grow year round.
2023 is poised to be another excellent year first up is another banner run of spring chinook it has been 5 years since we had a fishable spring King Salmon run in the Clearwater river 2022. They returned in wonderful numbers and we were able to have a spectacular season. These highly prized fish are the most sought after Salmon in the pacific northwest fetching upwards of $50 lb at Pike Place Market.
We will begin fishing these fish late march in Portland Oregon and follow them up the Columbia stopping at Wind River, Drano Lake, Hood River, Dalles, Rufus and Umatilla Oregon into the Snake River fishing below Ice Harbor and Little Goose dams and finally the Clearwater river. Reel Time Fishing guides are the only guides to follow these fish along there migration keeping you fishing for the largest pulse of these migrating fish.
