Our furry friend's health and longevity are our utmost priority. One of the many ways to take care of pets, especially dogs, is by spaying and neutering. Spaying and neutering dogs have proven over time to be an important strategy to save them from all the suffering and death that their overpopulation causes and assist pets with living happier and healthier lives.
On this note, The Popular Pets is supporting the Humane society’s National Spay and Neuter Month with their campaign geared towards creating awareness of the need to spay and neuter pets. The campaign is scheduled to begin in February this year, and The Popular Pets is calling on all who are concerned with the health of pets and the significant harm created by pet overpopulation to join in the campaign. Easy ways to participate in Spay and Neuter Awareness Month are by:
Donating to a local rescue organization and low-cost spay and neuter clinic, you can find a list of low-cost spay and neuter clinics seeking donations at www.thepopularpets.com
Sharing the benefits of spaying and neutering pets on social media to raise awareness for this important issue using the hashtag #spayneuterawarenessmonth.

Now more than ever pets need our help to avoid overpopulation. The Best Friends Animal Society, a leading rescue group, has declared #sheltercrisis2022 and estimates that about 100,000 more dogs and cats in the U.S. shelters are at risk of being killed than this time last year. Already it was estimated that 3 to 4 million animals are killed in U.S. animal shelters every year because of a lack of good homes. “ If all pet owners do their part and make sure their pets are spayed and neutered, the staggering number of animals in homeless shelters will decrease,” says Kendra Clark of The Popular Pets.
Spaying dogs will cause them to live happier and healthier lives. It eliminates the stress and discomfort that females endure during heat periods, eliminates the risk of uterine cancer, and greatly reduces the risk of mammary cancer. On the other hand, neutering makes males far less likely to roam or fight, prevents testicular cancer, and reduces the risk of prostate cancer.
Communities spend a lot of tax dollars managing the overpopulation of unspayed and unneutered pets. The one-time cost of spaying or neutering is far lower than the expense involved in rounding up strays, feeding and housing abandoned animals, and euthanizing those for whom homes can't be found. Join The Popular Pets in supporting Spay and Neuter Awareness Month this February to create awareness on the importance of spaying and neutering.
