Hangzhou has conducted over 46,000 unmanned drone experiments in logistics, medical care, emergency rescue and city patrol since October 2020, local media reported on Jan 10.
During the Jan 6 seminar held in the Artificial Intelligence Town of Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City, officials and experts reflected on the progress made.
Following Hangzhou's decision to give priority to the sector, the city set up a management service center to be in charge of drone-related affairs.
Some companies in Hangzhou have started to explore ways of using drones to deliver food, blood and medical samples.
Statistics show that more than 250 companies in Hangzhou have been involved in the research and development of drones and training of done operators.
Hangzhou's 5G signal covers over 1,600 square kilometers and this extensive coverage makes it easy to deploy drones in the city, said one drone operator.
Yuhang district has demarcated 25 square kilometers of land as a special area for drone experiments aimed at reducing problems caused by unauthorized drone flights.
