1908 Candy Company makes history as the first-ever candy company to enter the rap culture

Owners of the popular Alexander the Grape candy, 1908 Candy Company, sponsored the 2nd edition of King of the Dot’s “Town Bidness” rap battle.

Tagged as “Town Bidness II,” the second edition of what has been viewed as the largest battle rap event of the year, was a successful one, with support from the 1908 Candy Company and its candy brand “Alexander The Grape.” The event featured top names from the battle world including Organik, Dizaster, Soul Khan and Illmac, and it created an opportunity for the 1908 Candy Company to make history as the first candy company make a splash in the battle rap culture.

The event was successfully sponsored by 1908 Candy as part of the company’s rebranding and relaunching campaign for its popular grape flavored chewy candy, Alexander the Grape. One highlight of the event was Dizaster, regarded as the most influential battle rapper for the last ten years, grabbing a bag of Alexander the Grape to snack on during his main event battle.

Other popular artists like A. Ward and Aktiv wore an Alexander The Grape apparel during their respective battles, while Charron, a battle rapper currently on Nick Cannon's MTV show, “Wild N' Out,” used Alexander The Grape’s name in one of his opening raps.

Alexander The Grape and indeed, 1908 Candy Company, has gone viral on Instagram and Twitter since the event, with accolades coming from quarters and fans sharing photos and videos of themselves wearing Alexander The Grape apparel and eating bags of candy.

The battles were aired as a PPV event and will be released on KOTD’s YouTube page over the ensuing months, with the first release set for early January 2020.

In the coming months, 1908 Candy Company looks to continue with a strong presence in battle rap, as well as the music and entertainment space as they continue to promote their products. The candy company is also near launching a line of merchandise, available on their site as well as shoppable via Instagram.

Alexander The Grape, along with the company’s other candies, Johnny Appletreats, Mr. Melon and Cherry Clan, can be found at select Walgreens and Harmon Face Values nationwide, with more stores being added in the coming months.

About The 1908 Candy Company

The 1908 Candy Company was launched by a 4th generation descendant of the original Ferrera Pan founders to rebrand some of their classic candy brands, such as Alexander The Grape, Johnny Appletreats, Mr. Melon and Cherry Clan.

The launch of the 1908 Candy Company can be said to be the rebirth of the Ferrera Pan candies that largely contributed to their popularity in the 80’s.
