Talented independent filmmakers, Claire Chubbuck and Sofia D’Marco, chronicles the adventure of a victim of abduction in short film titled It’s Personal which was officially premiered at a launch party at California Institute of Abnormal Arts
It’s Personal is new short film from the stables of indie filmmakers, Claire Chubbuck and Sofia D’Marco, that aims to explore power dynamics found along the lines of race, gender and violence that breed the ongoing problem of sexual assault. The movie was recently launched at a party held on Friday, September 21st, 2018, from 7.00 pm to 11.00 pm at the California Institute of Abnormal Arts, 11334, Burbank Boulevard, North Hollywood, California, 91601.
Hollywood is the largest film industry in the world and getting to the highly-competitive industry can be very difficult. This is particularly true for independent filmmakers as they struggle to overcome challenges posed by budget and resources constraints. While many talented filmmakers have not been able to get their works to the world due to several constraints, some have become successful against all odds to show the world what they can offer. Claire Chubbuck and Sofia D’Marco are two of the few indie filmmakers that have made it into the industry, recently launching their short film titled “It’s Personal.”
The movie deservedly got a rapturous reception considering its interesting and thought-provoking storyline and the amazing delivery that features the talented actors and the real victim of the incidence. “It’s Personal” is a crime thriller and tells the story of a survivor of an abduction and her ordeals as she went through abuse, and rape amongst other assaults after she went missing in 2008.
The movie looks into the trauma experienced by such victims and the systematic problem that allow for the victims of sexual assault to far outweigh the perpetrators as a result of the molds set forth by society.
The uniquely inclusive story talks about battles to be fought on all sides of the gender apeirogon, with every member of the society having a part to play in cultivating a sane society as opposed to one of blame and shame.
It’s Personal is particularly unique not only as it seeks to address the issue of rape from an unprecedented angle, but it was actually made by women of three generations and multi-ethnic. This brings Reese Witherspoon’s speech into a reality as more women are beginning to take the bulls by the horns and call the shorts in the creative arts industry rather than being onlookers.
The launch event of “It’s Personal” short film had the female filming force at its core and it was a celebration of pacesetters that are looking to use creative arts to form a formidable force that will change the society for the better.
ARTivism is the movement put forward by the makers of “It’s Personal” and it is started to create space for more artistic self-expression.
