FreeCast’s SelectTV Showcases Latest Cord Cutting Innovations at CES 2017

SelectTV
With a variety of hardware and software products in tow, FreeCast's SelectTV promises the cutting edge in TV tech.

FreeCast begins 2017 with a mission to create new cord-cutters. With sights set on growth and a potent alternative to traditional cable and satellite television, the company believes that it can be the catalyst needed for many consumers to finally ditch their pay-TV services. SelectTV is an all-inclusive solution to online television and entertainment, offering easy access to even more content than cable TV at a fraction of the price.

FreeCast CEO William Mobley outlined the company’s goals for CES this year. “This is our time to shine, because we’ve got products that will make it possible for anyone and everyone to cut the cord in 2017. Our service is far more complete than other streaming providers, because it’s aggregated. Our hardware is better too, even outperforming Sling TV’s just-announced AirTV Player. We’re bringing a complete entertainment experience for cord-cutters, and nobody else is really offering that the way we are.” Among the products Mobley mentioned were:

  • The SelectTV web experience: a fully featured guide to millions of TV episodes, movies, streaming channels, live events, music videos, games, and more, from all legal online sources, free and paid.
  • SelectTV apps for both Android and iOS, allowing subscribers to take their television experience with them anyway, and always have access to any and all content available via their device.
  • SelectTV’s “ONE” Box (MSRP $99), boasting industry-leading hardware with direct HDTV antenna input and guide for live local broadcast channels, and DVR with watch and record capability.
  • Additional consumer hardware including streaming sticks and tablets that will enable consumers to access their favorite entertainment on the devices of their choosing.

Also in the works, and on the agenda to be discussed in meetings with other CES attendees, are integrations between SelectTV’s guide and popular home media hardware and software solutions, including Roku, Apple TV, Kodi, and Fire TV.
