MIAMI, FL – November 04, 2014 – Florida International University’s College of Architecture + The Arts (CARTA) is proud to present the 28th annual Festival of the Trees, on November 20th, 2014, located at the Coral Gables Country Club at 997 North Greenway Drive. The exhibition gala will be attended by some of Miami’s most well-known figures in the real estate, arts, architecture and design communities, as well as representatives from the media, Miami-Dade government, FIU students, faculty, and alumni. Single tickets are $72 and a $550 ten-person group rate is currently available for purchase at www.festivalofthetrees.net
“The [exhibit] gala reception…annually attracts as many as 600 people,” said CARTA Dean, Brian Schriner. “This is one of the most anticipated and celebrated holiday traditions in Miami’s Design and Cultural community.”
FIU Interior Architecture Department’s annual Festival of the Trees (www.festivalofthetrees.net) has become a creative South Florida tradition, marking the start of the holiday season for over 28 years. Since its inception, the Festival has featured the region’s premier design professionals in celebration of the holiday season’s shapes, colors, light and poetry.
“Design GPS: Global Prismatic Spectrums” is the theme of this year’s exhibition that showcases the amazing creativity of the community by engaging top local, national and international designers in the design of spectacular holiday trees made from every imaginable material. All who attend the gala reception on November 20th can bid on these extraordinary tree creations, and the winning bidder can display them as holiday decorations in their homes or offices, for years to come.
The Interior Architecture Advisory Board coordinates the exhibition and accompanying gala reception. As in past years, net proceeds from the Festival of the Trees will be used to support FIU’s Interior Architecture Department and help talented students pursue a quality education at FIU’s College of Architecture + The Arts. This annual holiday extravaganza has raised over $150,000!
