Kickstart bigger Sustainable Drinking Water with Ohyo 1000!

For many sports and outdoor enthusiasts the Ohyo 500 is just not big enough. So they've set to work with their Sheffield manufacturers to design a bigger Ohyo 1000. Ohyo is seeking £20,000 Kickstarter funding to finish the job.

Made from toxin-free plastic it provides a reusable and safer alternative to disposable plastic bottles1, which have attracted criticism for their potentially harmful effects and poor environmental record. 

Guy Jeremiah, creator of Ohyo points out that: “The average person in Europe buys 85 bottles of mineral water a year, at a cost of over £100. A typical local authority disposes of up to 10 million bottles a year at great cost to tax payers and, last year, we threw away 150 billion bottles, enough to stretch to the moon and back 50 times."

Although famously rejected by the dragons on the BBC programme Dragons’ Den (UK’s Shark Tank equivalent), the makers of Ohyo have proved them wrong with the Ohyo’s widespread customer appeal, commercial success and international distribution.

What is Ohyo?

Ohyo is a collapsible water bottle with a nozzle that can be re-used over 10,000 times. The Ohyo features a nozzle, which means that it can be used one-handed, instead of having to remove a screwtop each time it’s used.

What does the name ‘Ohyo’ mean?

It’s a combination of a play on the French word for water ‘eau’ and a reference to the word ‘yo-yo’, denoting the up and down of the bottle. Spin the H’s and O’s and you almost have H2O!

Who is behind it?

Guy Jeremiah, creator of the original Aquatina. The entrepreneur was famously slated by Duncan Bannatyne on Dragon’s Den, who threw the bottle back at him in rage. Guy’s more than delighted to have proved the dragons wrong.
